Hydrangea arborescens
![]() | |
All arborescens varieties have cream-white flowers and can be situated in full sun, but you have to make sure that they get sufficient water. Unlike many other hydrangeas, the Hydrangea arborescens can be pruned early and you will still have flowers that same year. If long, straight stems with big flowerheads are desired, all stems should be pruned to about 15 cm (6") above the ground level every year before the end of February. Pruning however is not necessary! If many small flowerheads are desired, do not prune. Do take care that your Hydrangea arborescens plant is supported sufficiently
every year because heavy wind and rain can tear the plant and flowers apart. When the
white flower tint has changed into a moss green colour, the flowerheads are suitable
for use as dried flowers.
Hydrangea arborescens can grow to a height of 1½ - 2 metres. If you don't see an index on this page, please click here Created by Koos and Wilko Hofstede Copyright © 2000-2007. All rights reserved. |
