Colouring pink

Keeping the pink colour

If the pink hydrangeas in your garden get the blue colour and you want them to be pink, mind the following facts:

1. Select a variety that not can grow blue; for instance the soft pink Hovaria® ’Hobella’.

2. Have soil with calcium in it. If you do not have this, you have to mix lime/calcium in the soil according to the directions of use of it.

3. It is better to not water with rainwater because this is not calciferous. Surely do not add aluminum-potash or -sulphate.

The degree of acidity is indicated with the pH-scale. A pH of 6-6,5 and higher means neutral up to calciferous soil, in which hydrangeas will be pink. A pH of 5 and lower means acid soil and is suitable for blue hydrangeas.
